The purchase and sale of natural gas savings certificates started on July 2, 2024 at the Energy Exchange of Iran.
Ali Naqvi, the CEO of Iran Energy Exchange, said: The transactions of natural gas energy saving certificates will start on Tuesday, the 12th of July in the energy saving certificate board of the Iran Energy Exchange securities market in the form of a continuous auction. The formation of this market is an important incentive in the implementation of gas saving projects in the country and at the same time it makes such projects profitable for the investor; The implementation of saving projects helps to reduce the challenge of gas imbalance in the country.
Ali Naqvi "CEO of Iran Energy Exchange" referred to the resolutions of November 2023 and said: Based on Article 3 of this resolution of the Supreme Energy Council of the country, the holder of the energy saving certificate has the possibility to receive the saved energy;
 In this resolution, the Ministries of Oil and Energy have been obliged to deliver the saved energy carrier to the buyers of saving certificates on the Iran Energy Exchange.
Also, according to this article, at the time of peak consumption, the holder of saving certificates, to the extent of the purchased certificate, is not included in the demand management program of the Ministry of Energy and Oil.
