According to the report by the Deputy of the Electricity Market at the Iran Grid Management Company, the first retail electricity transaction in the residential sector was completed in December 2024.
The report states that based on information recorded in the Out-of-Market Trading System of the Iran Grid Management Company, this transaction was designed, implemented, and exchanged by one of the retail companies to supply public electricity for several buildings in Ekbatan Town, located in west Tehran, amounting to 314 kilowatts per hour for delivery in December 2024.
It is worth mentioning that, according to the amended guidelines of the Electricity Trading Exchange in the Energy Exchange, all subscribers with a contractual power of more than 30 kilowatts can meet their electricity needs through retail companies.
